Missing American Woman’s Husband Stayed on Sailboat for 24 Hours After Bahamas Disappearance, Friend Claims
Questions continue to surround the disappearance of an American woman in the Bahamas after a friend of her husband claimed he remained aboard the couple’s sailboat for nearly 24 hours following the incident.
According to reports, Lynette Hooker disappeared on April 4 while returning to the couple’s sailboat with her husband, Brian Hooker, near Hope Town in the Bahamas.

Brian Hooker reportedly told authorities that rough waters caused his wife to fall from their dinghy while the pair were traveling back to their boat, which had served as their full-time home during retirement.
Authorities said Brian eventually paddled to shore and arrived in Marsh Harbour early the next morning before joining local search and rescue crews in efforts to locate his missing wife.

However, one of Brian Hooker’s friends later claimed that after several hours assisting with rescue operations, Hooker returned to the sailboat and remained there for almost an entire day.
The friend questioned why more extensive efforts were not made to continue searching for Lynette or gather additional information about the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.
The case has attracted growing public attention as investigators continue reviewing evidence and examining the timeline of events.
Brian Hooker was later arrested by Bahamian authorities but was eventually released without charges after several days in custody.
Investigators have since expanded the inquiry, with the United States Coast Guard reportedly seizing the couple’s sailboat, named Soulmate, during an operation off the coast of Florida.
According to officials, the vessel was taken into custody as part of an active criminal investigation and transported for forensic examination and evidence processing.
Authorities have not publicly announced any criminal charges related to Lynette Hooker’s disappearance, and no body has been recovered.
The mystery surrounding the case has fueled speculation online, particularly after details emerged about the couple’s lifestyle traveling across the Caribbean aboard their sailboat.
Meanwhile, Brian Hooker’s attorney has urged the public not to rush to judgment, emphasizing that people react differently during traumatic situations and investigations should proceed based on evidence rather than assumptions.
As the investigation continues, family members, friends, and authorities are still seeking answers about what happened during the couple’s final trip together in the Bahamas.
