Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Mallory McMorrow has deleted thousands of posts from her X account following renewed scrutiny over her earlier social media activity.

Reports indicate that roughly 6,000 tweets were removed, including all posts made before 2020. The move came after renewed attention on her online history, which had previously been highlighted in media coverage.

Some of the deleted posts reportedly included comments criticizing Michigan, the state she is now seeking to represent, as well as opinions on political and cultural divisions in the United States.

McMorrow, who is running in the Democratic primary to replace retiring Senator Gary Peters, has positioned herself as a moderate candidate. However, past posts attributed to her suggested strong views on issues such as education, regional identity, and political differences.

Earlier messages also reflected frustration about life in Michigan and comparisons to California, where she had previously lived. Other posts included commentary on national political dynamics during the 2016 election period.

Additional scrutiny has focused on her past statements about “coastal elites” and rural communities, as well as posts discussing broader cultural and political divides involving supporters of Donald Trump.

Questions were also raised about the timeline of her relocation from California to Michigan, as some earlier posts described her as a California resident after she later stated she had already moved.

A spokesperson for her campaign described the deletion of older posts as a routine step for political candidates, noting that many of the messages were written before she entered public office.

The campaign also emphasized her policy record, highlighting efforts on issues such as education, wages, public safety, and child welfare.

McMorrow is currently competing against other Democratic candidates, including Abdul El-Sayed and Haley Stevens, in a closely watched primary race.

As the election approaches, candidates’ past statements and digital footprints are expected to remain a major factor in shaping voter opinions.
